The Lore
The Infamous Brody Lore
Valentine's Day, 2023. Mammoth Mountain was blanked in a perfect layer of fresh powder, the kind that calls out to adventurers and dreamers alike. Brody had always been one of those people - the kind who refuse to let life's magic slip away. He had spent years chasing the thrill of discovery, snowboarding the world’s greatest slopes, and finding joy in the little wonders of life.
That morning, the air was crisp, the sky was impossibly blue, and the slopes were buzzing with life. Brody strapped into his bindings with a deep need to push the limits, explore, and feel alive. But something about the day felt different, almost electric. He couldn't put his finger on it.
The Jump
Brody isn't exactly cautious, and that is part of his charm. He thrives on the edge, always seeking the next jump, the next challenge. As he reached the crest of a particularly steep run, he spotted it—a jump that seemed like it had been placed there just for him. It was bigger than most would attempt, and it was angled into woods, but that was exactly why Brody couldn’t resist.
As he launched into the air, time seemed to slow. For a brief moment, Brody felt weightless, free, untouchable. But that feeling didn’t last. He landed awkwardly, his snowboard catching an edge on packed snow, which sent him tumbling down a steep ravine and off of a cliff drop. His head hit hard. Everything went dark.
When Brody woke, he wasn’t on the slope anymore. The familiar sounds of the mountain—the wind, the distant chatter of skiers—were replaced by a strange, serene silence. Slowly, he opened his eyes. Surrounding him were... bears.
Not just ordinary bears. These bears were...different. Their eyes were sharp, wise, and knowing, and their fur glistened like it had been dusted with starlight. Brody blinked as his mind jumped through the possibilities of what could be happening - could he have hit his head so hard he's hallucinating? Is he in a coma? Did he accidentally eat a mushroom? So many thoughts racing through his mind and yet, so little panic. The bears appeared to be friendly. Surely, if they were bad, they'd have attacked him by now.
One of the bears stepped forward and in a deep and steady voice, said “Welcome son. You took quite a tumble yesterday and we found you there outside our cave. You probably think you're hallucinating, hell, I don't blame ya'. But what you're seeing is real. A talking bear. I'll let you get your bearings as you've only just woken, then we'll eat and talk.” And the bear, clearly a Poppa bear, left the room.
Brody didn’t know what to say. He wasn’t used to magical, talking bears. But something about the way they looked at him—like they saw every corner of his soul—made him stay quiet and think.
About twenty minutes later, Brody emerged from his room with his dried and warm clothes. The bears were gathered around tables full of food - and yes, Honey was on the menu. The wise bear (as Brody had dubbed him) continued. "Grab a plate and come sit by me." Brody followed the orders and sat down. The wise bear continued, “Most people lose their sense of wonder as they grow older. They stop exploring, stop dreaming, stop discovering. They forget the magic they once felt as children. But not you. Your spirit burns with curiosity.”
Brody was flabbergasted. “How did he seem to know me so deeply?” Brody thought to himself.
“We are the Keepers of Destiny,” the bear said, its voice resonant, almost melodic, like the hum of the mountain itself. “For centuries, we have guarded the true essence of life—wonder, curiosity, and the relentless pursuit of discovery. Most people lose sight of their destiny. They stop dreaming and fall into lives of quiet routine. But the universe has always chosen a few to remind humanity of its true purpose.”
The bear's gaze fixed on Brody, piercing yet kind. “Every century, we are sent someone special, someone who still believes in the magic of life. Someone brave enough to carry the torch forward. Brody, you are this century's chosen one.”
Brody swallowed hard, his mind spinning. “wtf?... why me? I'm so fucking confused.”
The bear smiled—a curious, knowing smile. “Your courage to seek, your refusal to settle, your heart that still burns with curiosity. These are the qualities of someone who can inspire others to reclaim their humanity, to explore, dream, and discover once again.”
Another bear, smaller but with an air of quiet wisdom, leaned forward from across the table. “With this calling comes great responsibility. You must remind the world of its destiny—to live boldly, to seek adventure, to embrace wonder. But first, there is something you must see.”
The Hidden World
The bears led Brody into a cave tucked deep within Mammoth Mountain. At first, it seemed like an ordinary cavern, but as they ventured further, the walls began to glow with an otherworldly light. The air grew warmer, tinged with the scent of wildflowers and something sweet—almost intoxicating.
Suddenly, the tunnel opened up into an underground paradise. Brody froze, his breath stolen by the sight before him. Towering trees stretched into an impossibly vast space, their branches glowing softly as if kissed by moonlight. Streams of crystal-clear water carved pathways through the lush greenery, while ponds shimmered with hues of gold and silver. The bears moved with effortless grace, fishing in the streams, playing near waterfalls, and tending to rows of beehives that hummed with life.
Brody turned to one of the bears. “This… this is incredible. How is this even possible?”
The bear chuckled, its deep voice echoing through the cavern. “This is our sanctuary. A place where we live in harmony with nature, guided by the divine forces that protect us. It is here that we’ve kept the secrets of vitality, wisdom, and wonder alive.”
Brody marveled at the simplicity and balance of the bears’ world. Everything seemed perfectly aligned—an advanced society built on harmony, not chaos. “No wonder you’ve been here so long,” he said softly, awe in his voice. “It’s like you’ve discovered the secret to life itself.”
The Gift as sweet as Honey
As if reading his thoughts, one of the bears approached Brody, carrying a small, intricately carved wooden cup. Inside was a golden liquid that seemed to glow with its own light. You could sense that it was pure and divine.
“This,” the bear said, holding the cup reverently, “is the essence of life itself. Our honey. It is made from the nectar of flowers that bloom only here, nurtured by the divine energy of this sanctuary. Drink it daily, and it will fill you with life energy—qi, prana, the essence of vitality. Some have called it the fountain of youth, but to us, it is simply the gift of balance.”
Brody took the cup, his hands trembling slightly. As he sipped, a warmth spread through his body, unlike anything he’d ever felt before. It wasn’t just energy—it was clarity, peace, and an overwhelming sense of connection to everything around him.
“The honey will sustain you,” the bear continued. “But its true power is in how it aligns your spirit with your purpose. As long as you live true to the call of explore, dream, discover, this energy will never fade.”
Brody then enjoyed his tour of this forgotten or hidden world.
Returning to the Old World
When Brody awoke from his sleep , he was back on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain. The sun was setting, painting the sky with streaks of orange and pink. For a moment, he thought it had all been a dream. But then, he felt something in his pocket.
Pulling it out, he found a small, shimmering token etched with the words: Explore. Dream. Discover. A knowing smile crept across his face. The bears were real and so was that world.
The Beginning
In the weeks and months that followed, Brody took upon himself a new purpose and poured himself into it. The bears had shared their world with him, their wisdom, and their honey, and now it was his turn to share it with the world. He built a movement—a call to action for everyone to reclaim their sense of wonder, to step out of their routines, and to embrace life as the grand adventure it is meant to be.
Brody’s journey didn’t end on Mammoth Mountain. It had only just begun. Brody knew that in order to truly spread the wisdom of the bears and to inspire others to Explore, Dream, and Discover, then he would need to become famous and influential. He couldn't rest until he figured out how to spread the magic of life and inspire others to rediscover their humanity and live boldly.
And the Keepers of Destiny? Those wise yet youthful bears? They’re still out there, watching, waiting for the next dreamer, the next explorer, the next person brave enough to carry their message forward.
Because where there’s courage, the Keepers will follow.
